Pokémon Brown is a Game Boy Color ROM Hack created by Coolboyman and is based on Pokémon Red. Originally released as one of the earliest complete Pokémon ROM hacks to feature an entirely new region, Pokémon Brown has become a landmark title in ROM hacking history. Set in the unique Rijon Region, the game introduces a brand-new storyline, expanded exploration, custom graphics, new Pokémon availability, and several original elemental types. The modern twentieth-anniversary update further enhances the experience with upgraded visuals, additional story content, quality-of-life improvements, modern battle mechanics, Pokémon Prism integration, and over 230 obtainable Pokémon.

Story

Pokémon Brown takes place in the original fan-made Rijon Region, a completely new area separate from Kanto. Players begin their journey as a young trainer seeking to become the strongest Pokémon Trainer while uncovering the mysteries of Rijon. Throughout the adventure, you'll explore diverse cities, forests, caves, and unique locations while facing Gym Leaders and rival trainers. The game features several creative reinterpretations of classic Pokémon events, including new twists on familiar quests and locations. Players can even travel north and briefly visit parts of Johto, expanding the scope of the adventure beyond Rijon itself.
